Our Community

Meadow Walk Housing Co-op is situated in Central Richmond, British Columbia, and comprises 63 residences, including 24 townhouses and 39 apartments. Our townhouses feature either 2 or 3 levels, while our apartments range from 1 to 3 bedrooms.

As a cooperative community, we collaboratively manage our housing. Members are encouraged to contribute a small amount of time each month through participation and volunteering. This engagement fosters community bonds and helps keep housing charges lower.

Our community is designated as a non-smoking environment.

Each unit is permited to have either 2 cats or 1 dog, with the dog's height not exceeding 17 inch.

As a member, you have a voice in decisions that impact both your home and your neighbors. In addition to your responsibilities, you enjoy security of tenure, meaning you can reside in the co-op for as long as you wish, provided you adhere to the co-op's rules and pay your housing charges. Together with your neighbors, you collectively own your homes. Our diverse and vibrant membership is a unique strength that enriches our community.

What is a Housing Co-op?

Housing cooperatives (co-ops) foster diverse communities comprising individuals from various backgrounds, income levels, and family structures.

In a co-op, all members collectively own the organization, which in turn owns the housing itself. Upon joining, each member is required to purchase a "share" in the co-op.

Every member possesses a vote that enables them to influence policies, make decisions, and elect leaders responsible for managing daily operations and reporting back to the members.
